Co-Executive Producer

Raw Talk Podcast is currently seeking executive producer applications for our Season 10 Cast.

Raw Talk is a graduate student-led podcast focused on bridging the gap between science innovation and science literacy. Since its launch in 2016, our team has ventured across campus and back, to capture the breadth of medical science research at U of T, and the scientists behind it. New members can expect an enriching experience in communication and opportunities to connect with scientists, health professionals, and the broader public.

Executive Producers are the main leads of the team and are ultimately responsible for the episode production and team functioning. In this role, you decide on topics that will resonate with our audience, manage a team of show hosts, content creators, audio engineers, and coordinate with promotions to market the episode. In this role, you are responsible for storyboarding, script writing, assisting show hosts with interviews and leading the post-production and mastering of each episode.

As a successful candidate, you:

  • Are a 2nd or 3rd year PhD student at the University of Toronto (any faculty or department).
  • Can commit to the team for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Aspire to improve science literacy and make science accessible to a broader audience.
  • Love to work collaboratively with people of diverse backgrounds on ideas from conception to completion.
  • Must have no other major commitments that would limit your availability or capacity to lead.
  • Communicate effectively across disciplines.
  • Value accountability, and embody it.
  • Embrace new opportunities, with a sense of humour and adventure.
  • Strive for excellence and constantly look for ways to improve.

We welcome applicants from all graduate programs, but preference will be given to students who have an interest in science communication and enjoy listening to podcasts relevant to Raw Talk's capabilities: conversation (e.g. long-form interviews); and/or narrative (e.g. investigative, informational).

Application Process:

Apply by submitting this Google Form. Your application should include:

  • 1-page resume
  • A short (~100-word) statement telling us about your favourite Raw Talk episode. What you like, why you like it, and one area for improvement.
  • Describe 3 qualities or experiences that make you a suitable candidate for this position.
  • A 30 second voice note speaking about any topic of interest (eg. your field of research, something on the news, a novel research discovery, etc.)

Applications close at 11:59 pm EST on April 30th, 2025. We sincerely thank all applicants for their interest.
